From Tuntutuliak His Grace, Bishop NIKOLAI traveled by plane to Napaskiak. This village, 100 percent Russian Orthodox, has given the Diocese numerous clergy. The parish is under the patronage of St. James, Brother of the Lord and First Bishop of Jerusalem. His Grace celebrated the Festal Vigil and the responses were sung by the famous Napaskiak choir. Following the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on November 5, His Grace, Bishop NIKOLAI celebrated a Molieben to St. James and shared in a potluck feast at the village school before returning home to Anchorage.

His Grace, Bishop NIKOLAI traveled for the first time to a village on the mouth of the Kuskokwim, Tuntutuliak, where he celebrated the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God with the faithful there. He also presented the community with a copy of the Sitka Icon of the Mother of God which also keeps November 4 as her Feast day. Tuntutuliak boasts some very famous and well-kept boardwalks which His Grace and entourage used to traverse the long village. The village of Tuntutuliak, with a population of nearly 400 souls is half Orthodox and growing. Recently, the Archpriest Martin Nicolai, noted church musician, was assigned here and the beginning of a major church renovation project was started.
